A custom warehouse management system lets this green business concentrate on quality service.
A custom warehouse management system gave Hall Street Storage the edge they needed to allow them to concentrate on their passion for sustainability without letting profits slip.
Hall Street Storage is committed to green business operations. They use recycled packing materials and soy ink, they’re the first storage company to use solar water heaters, 100% of their electricity comes from renewable sources, their office furniture is made from reclaimed wood, and they soon will offer pedi-cabs to help area residents move their belongings in the most environmentally-friendly way.
Hall Street Storage was built in 1931, as a multi-building warehouse covering almost an entire city block in downtown Brooklyn. Joining in the revival of the neighborhood, Hall Street remodeled their building for a self-storage section, iStoreGreen, in addition to their commercial operation. Warehousing operations needed an upgrade, too.
They had an ancient software system that had worked for them fairly well. The staff were trained on it and it functioned — until it stopped working entirely. They couldn’t generate their invoices for February of 2010. On February 15th, they called Clevertech. By mid-March, they had a new web-based system with new features designed for the way their business works now.
Clevertech designed a custom warehouse management system complete with price, rate, inventory and account management functionality. The system is equipped with a powerful pricing strategy tool for incoming and outgoing inventory as well as a monthly statement generation feature. This powerful system allows Hall Street to run their business effectively, making best use of all their resources, including their human capital.

“CleverTech was able to create a new system for Hall Street Storage fast enough to meet their urgent need, but built to satisfy their long-term goals. The staff will have to get used to using a mouse instead of their old keyboard-dependent system, but otherwise, since we built the system to fit their workflow, it’ll be intuitive.”
