Silvermine Capital Management, a Connecticut firm that now manages over nine funds, was created by four visionaries who had the gumption to risk all that they had to fuel their dream. They quit their jobs as investment managers, leaving behind all that was established, known, and secure. Using their homes as collateral for loans, they began their own company with the proverbial shirts on their backs.

A dream, however, will remain intangible unless a catalyst transforms that vision for the future into the present reality. Clevertech provided the means.

Silvermine’s triumph was aided by perseverance, talent, and a clear, innovative goal from the start: to use technology to gather information about investments throughout their lifecycle, from the time of evaluation until the exit of investment. The system encompasses the entire business operation: it defines the rules and delineates the exceptions, gathers essential information that is analyzed and applied to make critical investment decisions, creates reports, and performs tests on portfolios to ensure compliance with all legal covenants. The SCM system is the physical embodiment of the business processes.

Instead of a pre-designed “in the box” program to manage their operations, Silvermine chose a program that was custom tailored to suit their needs. As a point of differentiation and a protection against competition, the SCM System became a vital component of Silvermine’s marketing package for potential investors.
