Whitecap Advisors (Whitecap) began as a small group in Connecticut. In a short amount of time, Whitecap established an excellent investment track record. Investments were increasing at a rapid pace, a few dozen turning into more than a hundred. This swift expansion required a scalable portfolio management and monitoring tool that would complement Whitecap’s human capital.

Whitecap had been managing each investment using Microsoft Excel, an excellent program that acts as a scalpel for analysis. Excel, however, was not designed to be used for global reporting on a portfolio of investments. Creating reports was cumbersome and time consuming. Clevertech designed a database driven web dashboard specifically for Whitecap’s needs. The new system allowed Whitecap to focus on the real work of analyzing data and identifying trends in a dynamic environment, instead of squandering valuable time laboring over static spreadsheets.

Replacing Excel files with management by database, the application maintained much of the familiar look and feel of the existing operating processes. The system became responsible for running sophisticated investment queries, tracking investments individual performance, and critical operational processes, including daily cash balances, interest calculations, internal management reporting, and investor reporting. Key investors, impressed by the flexibility of the system, insisted that it be used to provide them with ongoing reporting.

Clevertech supplied Whitecap with essential, critical tools that granted them the power to control their expansion and manage their business. With the support of the new system, Whitecap is now better equipped to handle any future growth, firmly positioned on the path to success.
